Biography[]
Jack Orkan was Marianne's foster father who is deceased by the time the game's events take place. He has played such a role ever since Marianne was a child, and of the foster families she transitioned through, Jack was the only one Marianne truly loved. According to Marianne, he was the one who taught her to accept her powers and taught her how to use them.[1] He owned his own funeral home in which the beginning of the game takes place. He and Marianne speak in the spirit world, Jack tells Marianne that he's loved her since the day she came into his life, and Marianne sends his spirit away. Later in the game, The Maw takes his form in the ruins in an attempt to lure Marianne out. His tie is left in the ruins, meaning that The Maw may have temporarily possessed Jack's body.
